MSU construction work continues

Throughout the semester many students, visitors and faculty on Mississippi Stateıs campus have taken notice of the extensive renovations and construction taking place.
With the construction of Dave C. Swalm Chemical Engineering Building soon coming to a close, a dedication ceremony will take place Saturday at 2 p.m.
The Swalm Building was named after Dave C. Swalm, who donated over $24 million to MSU, which included some of the funds used in constructing his namesake building.
An exact replica of Lee Hall, Swalm will house classrooms with Internet connections at every desk, 17 fully-equipped research laboratories and an auditorium complete with the most recent in multimedia capabilities.
Lee Hall and Hilbun Hall have both been receiving exterior facelifts this year and the renovations are not expected to end for several more months. However, Hilbun Hall and some residence halls are also being revamped on the interior as well.
Many classes have been moved to the portable trailers by the intramural field due to the restoration of Hilbun, causing an inconvenience to students and faculty.
Not only have many classes been affected, but parking has become a hassle as well with all of the contruction vehicles impeding traffic and blocking roads.
³Itıs been such a hassle trying to drive around campus with all of the construction from Lee Hall and Hilbun Hall blocking part of the road,² Linden Adams, a fitness management concentration major, said.
